The Youth Valentines Banquet/Dinner is THIS FRIDAY, February 11th, at 6:30PM at the church. Come and bring a friend! You don't have to bring a date, but do try to bring someone with you! We will be getting a head count this Wednesday! Dress for the event is not dressy, but not sloppy. Come looking nice! The food will be great!! Looking forward to it!!!

New Year, New Decade, New Possibilities!!!

2011 is upon us. We have such a beautiful opportunity this year, and this decade. Just to keep you updated on what the future is shaping up to look like, here are some ideas that are floating around for this year:

* Youth Valentines Banquet - Friday, February 11th, 6:30PM at the church. Sponsored by your Brother Wayne and Mrs. Alyene.
* March 13th - Deadline to sign up and turn in your deposit for Summer Youth Camp. We will also begin fundraisers in March.
* March 19th - Senior Tea. Seniors, put this on your calendars now! You will spend the day with Meredith and Gordon, most likely in Montgomery.
* April 17th - 2nd Youth Camp Payment Due.
* April 24th - Easter - We hope to also have the youth do a drama presentation some time around Easter. Be listening for details regarding practice times and schedules!
* May 22nd - Final Youth Camp Payment Due.
* June 24-27, 2011 - Summer Youth Camp, Laguna Beach Christian Retreats, Laguna Beach, Florida.

Goals:
* Keep supporting Sarada and Nandini through Holt International. Please continue to bring your $3 each month. If we collect more than the $30 each month then we will purchase a gift to send that month as well.
* Mission Projects - Within and outside of our church.
* Easter drama presentation.
* Increase our numbers, but more importantly help those who attend grow in their relationships with Christ.

I'm sure there are many more events that will be planned and goals that we need to set so feel free to call/email/text them to me. Make it a point at least weekly to check this blog for news and new pictures. I hope you will remind me to do a better job of keeping up with it!

Youth Camp 2010

We had a great time this weekend at Xtreme Weekend. I am very thankful for the group of youth who attended and for friendships and decisions that were made. Here are some pictures and video from this weekend.

REMINDER: Xtreme Weekend is January 29-31! I need your registration form and money ($25) by Sunday, January 17th, at the VERY latest. Make checks payable to HBC. Get your Permission Forms filled out and signed ASAP too. I'll need them before the big weekend arrives!

Be rounding up your sleeping bags and/or blankets and pillows. Pack your Bible, shampoo, conditioner, soap, Bible, makeup, clothes, undies, Bible, razor, deodorant, brush, Bible, hair dryer, shoes, kleenex, Bible, toothbrush, toothpaste, and Bible. Did I mention to bring your Bible?

Leave any prank supplies (toilet paper - unless you plan to use it on your behind; water guns; silly string; fireworks, shaving cream, etc.), weapons, iPods, and radios at HOME. Christian music will be provided for you to listen to and other necessary supplies will be provided.

Also, bring snacks to share! If you think you may want it to snack on, bring it with you. I have popcorn (but we know my history of popping popcorn...). For drinks, we prefer the small 8 oz cans instead of the 12 oz cans so they won't waste as much. But bring what you want to drink and we'll have a cooler, as well as cups if you bring a 2-liter. We will have a total of 11 youth in our house, as well as 3-4 adults.

Everyone will need to meet at Gordon & Meredith's house no later than 5:30PM on Friday, January 29th. Registration is at 6pm and you will need to have your stuff in the house before we leave for registration.

Basically, we were tossin around a baseball or softball that had been soaked in kerosene and lit on fire. FUN!!! Of course, we were wearing yard gloves so our hands didn't get burned.

VBS 2007

Vacation Bible School at Good Hope was June 11-15, 2007. We have an average of 18 youth every night of Bible School. Wednesday night was our largest crowd with 22 youth and 2 adults. Friday night of VBS we had a swimming party at The Locklars house. Thanks Bro. Wayne and Mrs. Alyene for letting us swim in your pool!

We took our youth bowling on Sunday afternoon, May 20th. They had a lot of fun. I think the best part was eating at McDonalds since the one here has been torn down to be rebuilt and updated!

On Saturday, March 3, 2007, Goshen High School held their Campus Beauty Pageant. Several of the girls in our youth group were in the pageant. Emily Green sang as a part of the voluntary talent portion of the contest. She did a great job!!!Congratulations Girls! You were SO beautiful! Others from our youth group were there in support of their Sisters In Christ. We are so proud of all of you!!!

Valentines Party

We had our Valentines party on Feb. 14th. It was lots of fun. We ate lasagna, garlic bread, cupcakes and lots of candy. Thanks to all who prepared stuff for us to enjoy!

The Revolve Tour

The girls went to a girls' conference called The Revolve Tour on December 1-2, 2006. The conference was in Duluth, Georgia at the Gwinnette Arena. The conference speakers and musicians were ZOEgirl, Natalie Grant, Tammy Trent, Chad Eastham, and it seems like there was one more...Oh Yeah! KJ-52! April Lowery and Shirley Doss from Greenville, and Tracey Griffin and her daughters, Natalie and Presley, from Centreville went with us. Chad Eastham really laid down the law for us about boys and relationships. We've got you figured out now guys!!! Thank you to our church who sponsored much of the trip for us, and to the chaperones who went! We had a wonderful time!

Fall Festival & Hay Ride

Saturday, October 28th, the church's Fall Festival and Trunk-or-Treat were a lot of fun. The Youth won 1st place for their Trunk-or-Treat decorations. Afterwards, we went to the South Montgomery Hay Ride and had a great time. We would like to let the Hillbillies know that Kasey is baking cookies for them, and thank them for giving Katy back to us.

We are excited to announce that our church is under construction. We have recently demolished the block building (white) at the back of our church which was the "Children's Building." We are in the process of building additional classrooms, restrooms, and a new kitchen and fellowship hall that will better serve our growing church. Pictures will be added as construction progresses.

July 4th was a big day for the church. The Sunday before, we celebrated with a church-wide BBQ on the church grounds. On Independence day, there was a going-away party for one of our youth, TJ Jacques, before he left for Paris Island, SC for Marine boot camp. You're in our prayers TJ. We love you!

Biscuits Baseball

Our church took a group to a Montgomery Biscuits Baseball game on June 30, 2006. Several of our youth went and had a blast. Biscuits won!

Youth Rally

Our Youth Group hosted a Youth Rally on June 17, 2006. The focus of the rally was "Surviving Planet Earth." Blaine Davis came from Wilsonville, AL to speak to the youth and brought Chuck Owen and their Praise Team with him to lead music. There was a good crowd and great response to the Holy Spirit! Our Drama Team, RAIN, performed that day also. Thank you to everyone who helped. Great Job RAIN!
